Singapore, 23 May 2014 - GDF SUEZ Energy Services, through its wholly owned subsidiary Cofely South East Asia Pte Ltd, has acquired SMP Pte Ltd (“SMP”), the specialist in data centre solutions business in Singapore. SMP, a 10-year old company, has an established track record in the data centre sector. Some of its clients include Ministry of Home Affairs – Casino Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Education, National University of Singapore, Sentosa Corporation and Continental Automotive.
Cofely, who currently operates 500,000m2 of data centre space in Europe, achieves this strategic acquisition to expand its data centre solutions business in Asia whilst integrating best practice innovative technology to offer its customers the means to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption. This acquisition supports Cofely’s expansion plans in Singapore. With a turnover of 5 million euros and 30 employees highly-experienced in the design, build and maintenance of data centres, SMP will complement Cofely’s existing businesses in Asia namely: design, implementation and management of Energy & Utility solutions, Integrated Facilities Management, District Cooling Services, Street Lighting and Industrial Solutions.
Today, Cofely in South-East Asia employs 400 employees and generated a turnover of 30 million euros. Jérôme Tolot, CEO of GDF SUEZ Energy Services and Executive Vice-President of GDF SUEZ, also added: “This acquisition builds on Cofely’s leading position in energy and technical services to equip us with additional capabilities for the delivery of total facilities management services and the outsourcing of business processes. Cofely has the ambition to double its revenues outside Europe within the next 5 years and South-East Asia is one of the main regions we want to invest in.” SMP Pte Ltd will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Cofely South East Asia under the brand name Cofely DC Pte Ltd with immediate effect.
